Late Summer Show – A Big Thank You!

Categories Flower Shows

Thank you to everyone who helped make our September Late Summer Show such a stunning success.

The Show is a massive team effort, organised by our volunteer Show Secretary Jess. As well as the Show and cafe, we had the pop-up Hut (of course), the Wildlife Gardening Group, Hillside Gardens and The Stitch.

We’re so grateful to:

Entrants & Visitors

We had 141 entries from 40 entrants – more than last year! And 13 were first time entrants.

And we had lots of visitors – new faces as well as familiar ones.

The Mayor of Lambeth

Very many thanks to Cllr Paul Valentine and his entourage. Cllr Valentine is this year’s Lambeth Mayor and arrived early so he could find out all about the Show. Then he judged the Vegetable Sculpture Competition and opened the Show.

Our Volunteers

Our volunteers were Anne, Steph, Alice and Verity as stewards. Chrissy, Sam and Valerie helped transport. Steve M, Steve C, Martin, Bernard, Kevin and Stanley helped at set up and breakdown. Dave W handled the tombola and helped with transport. And Anlou was on duty throughout at the desk.

Arm Twisters

Thank you if you talked and cajoled friends, family and neighbours to have a go. Several new entrants – including trophy winners – told us how they’d been persuaded to enter.

Tombola Donors

We had some super prizes on offer at the tombola – thank you to everyone who donated. Local organisations who donated prizes were:

Bistro Cafe Shop -Award winning, Fruit & Veg stall West Norwood, Floral Hall Florist & Garden Centre West Norwood Cinema A&S homeware and Four Hundred Rabbits

Cakes for the Cafe

The cafe was busy, busy, busy from 2 pm to 5 pm – thank you to those who contributed cakes to help us raise funds.
