Update – End of June

The Hut is reopening!

We are happy to inform you that from Sunday 28th June we will re-open the Trading Hut, on Sunday mornings only to start with, from 10am until 12pm. We will operate a one way system, entering the Hut via bulk store and exiting via the green door after paying for all goods at the cash desk.

Members will be asked to queue from the table set up outside and maintain 2metre distance at all times and use a facial covering.

The Hut is fully stocked with composts, fertilisers and manures. You may also find patio plants, vegetables, roses, tender perennials, and annuals. There are always plenty of flower and vegetable seeds, hanging basket materials, containers, tools – everything you need to keep up the momentum of the gardening year; and, of course, free advice from our seasoned gardeners!

Hut history
The Society shop was, originally, in a Hut – which is how it gets the name. Now it is housed in premises leased from Lambeth Council at the end of Cedar Tree Grove, off Lakeview Road. SE27 0QE – click here for a map.

Hut stock
The stock includes a wide range of garden supplies and requisites, some plants – particularly bedding plants in the Spring and bulbs in Spring and Autumn – seeds, tools and equipment, herbicides, fungicides, fertiliser, slug repellents, compost, horticultural sand, grit and gravel, floral art material …the list is long. Because The Hut is run by volunteers prices are competitive and all profits are ploughed back into running the Society. The Hut also houses a library of gardening books and videos which can be consulted at The Hut or borrowed (one item at a time).

Opening Times
The Hut is currently open on Sunday mornings from 10am until 12 noon. We hope to open on Saturday again in the future. The Hut does not open weekends when there is a flower show and it closes for a winter break over Christmas and New Year – dates are published in the Newsletter.
The Society also runs market stalls from time-to-time at Fetes and at Feast (the monthly market in West Norwood High Street) but the onus increasingly falls on the same few people. More volunteers are needed, even if you can only manage a few hours a month – it all helps. If you have a few hours to spare please contact the Secretary at secretary@lambethhoriticulturalsociety.org.uk
