Thinking about exhibiting at one of our shows?

Welcome, we’d love to have you at the show! There are lots of classes to choose from and many only receive a small number of entries so the chances of winning are good. We welcome expert growers, complete newbies and everyone in between. You can enter as many or as few classes as you like.

How much is it to enter?

All entries, apart from those in the children’s section are 20p each if entered in advance. A bargain! Children’s classes are free. Please bring cash with you on the day.

What can you enter?

It’s not just about flowers and vegetables! The show is divided up into sections and within each section there are numbered classes. You can only enter once in each class but you can enter as many classes as you like.

Spring Show

  • Container grown section – this is for indoor and outdoor plants of many different varieties including flowering and foliage plants. Some classes will appear in all shows but in the Spring Show there are more classes focused on spring bulbs. House plants and cacti are included in this section.
  • Cut bloom section – these include vases of single types of flowers as well as vases of mixed flowers and flowering shrubs

Late Summer Show

  • Vegetable section – includes many varieties of vegetables, salads and herbs
  • Fruit section
  • Chrysanthemum section
  • Dahlia section
  • General flower section – includes both cut and potted flowers, hanging baskets and bonsai trees
  • Pelargonium or Geranium section
  • Houseplant and cactus section – there are more classes dedicated to cacti and house plants than in the spring show

All shows

  • Floral art section – the themes for these classes change for each show
  • Handicraft section – this includes classes for knitting, crochet, embroidery, painting and drawing
  • Photographic section – the themes for these classes change for each show
  • Children’s section – these classes are free to enter and only open to children
  • Domestic section – Jam, chutneys and baking

What happens on the day?

Exhibitors can ‘stage’ their exhibits at any time between 9am to 12.15pm. You will need to bring what you want to enter (your ‘exhibits’) with you. We provide vases for flowers and plates and sand for classes that require it. When you arrive please report to the desk at the entrance to register. The Show Secretary or a member of the team will check you in and you’ll need to pay for the classes you have entered (correct change is appreciated!). Parking is available for drop off and pick up. St Luke’s is also well served by the buses and a short walk from West Norwood train station.

You’ll need to finish setting up and leave the hall by 12.30pm for the judging to take place.

At 2pm the show opens for the public to visit and the winners are revaealed. There is a tea and cake stall, a raffle and a stall with gardening essentials from the LHS’s trading hut.

Prize money can be collected from the desk at the entrance between 4pm and 4.30pm

You will need to collect your exhibit/s between 4.30pm and 5pm.

What can you win?

Small cash prizes are available for first, second and third prizes and there are a number of trophies and awards for the best of each section which are up for grabs!
