SUMMARY:Free Talk: Climate Change and Gardening\, what does it all mean?
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Claire Mitchell\, The Garden Editor \n\n\n\nAn inspiring and motivating look at the science of climate change and what it means for gardeners.  \nI cover the science of climate change in accessible terms; the changing temperatures and rain patterns in the area; and what this means in practice for gardens and gardeners. \nThe focus continues with a look at plants for our changing climate\, and hints and tips on gardening in a sustainable\, climate-friendly way. \nA trained RHS horticulturalist with a passion for sustainability\, I bring gardening into the 21st century in an environmentally-friendly\, ethical way. I specialise in bringing the latest on climate-change to life in a non-scary\, accessible method as well as plant combinations and planting design used in my work as The Garden Editor. Engaging\, inspiring and motivating\, my talks are the antidote to panic buying plants at a garden centre when spring arrives\, or feeling worried without knowing what to do when hosepipe bans hit. \nUnlike a lot of experts\, I didn’t come from a traditional gardening background. I’m an RHS qualified horticulturalist\, trained at Royal Botanic Gardens\, Edingburgh and Sparsholt College\, Hampshire.  I’m always going on extra geeky courses to carry on my learning to pass it on to my clients . I love making things simple\, easy and effective for modern living. \nI have a strong eye for design\, a passion for living sustainably and a belief that gardening is for everyone\, regardless of skills\, ability and background. I’ve taken on established but unloved gardens and turned them into joyful spaces without expensive or unsustainable redesigns. I’ve dealt with the aftermath of house extensions\, the barenness of new builds and everything in between.  \nThe Talk begins at 8pm. Doors open at 7.30pm. \nLight refreshments & raffle. Suggested donation £5.
