What’s happening in members’ Lambeth gardens this month.

Left: Water Mint, still flowering. Right: Rozanne. Known as a doer – it’s doing.

Left: Rose la Parisienne. “I was dubious about growing roses until I discovered they like south London clay. This was an impulse buy at a plant auction. It grows very tall and vies with Darcey Bussell to be the first to start and last to stop flowering.”
Centre: Astrania. Broadcast from a seedpacket free with a gardening magazine.
Right: Centre: Begonia Glowing Embers. “Begonias are another plant I’m not sure I love, but they are good doers in the shady areas of my garden and these do overwinter outdoors without complaint.”

Centre: Right: Fuchsia BÖrnemann’s Beste (with heuchera Cherry Cola). “This is a souvenir from a visit to the National Garden Scheme open garden at Ulting Wick in Essex. I don’t think it’s completely hardy, as I left it out over winter and it looked very miserable in spring, but has clearly perked up!
